Basic Research Timeline

Originally developed by the Department of Biological Science at Florida State University with support from an NIH grant, PSBR reproduced the Basic Research Lesson Plan and Timeline and has offered them to middle school and high school students throughout Pennsylvania. The purpose of the program is to improve the science literacy in middle and high school teachers and their students by educating them about basic biomedical and behavioral research. The program hopes to show why such research is necessary for continued progress in improving human health. This curriculum attempts to impart information as well as to encourage the natural curiousity and imagination of students. The lessons are framed in a manner that allows the student to question and to learn from the questioning process.
